The tramway was constructed in 1996 with final completion in early 1997 at a cost of $17 million. The slope length of the tramway is 3087 ft., vertical rise of 1744 ft. with a 68% grade.
The tramway is of the Double-Reversible Jig-Back type. Two cars are always moving in opposite direction, holding 60 passengers each.
