Bryggjan Restaurant Akureyri, Iceland
I believe the building started out as a factory and mechanics' shop over a century ago and became a restaurant only in the past two decades. You can see remnants of its industrial past in the heavily wooded decor of the casual eatery and expansive bar. I walked next to the harbor from my hotel in the cold. wet weather based on a simple recommendation from the front desk clerk who told me that if I could brave the elements a bit, it would be worth the walk because it was her favorite restaurant in town. I could see why since it has a convivial vibe, and the menu was very much gastropub fare.
